Two-time winner of "Best in Show" at the Handcrafted Soap Makers Guild Annual Conference (2006 & 2007) reveals her methods for creating award winning soap. (See Lori Nova's award winning swirled CP soaps here.) Until recently, this class was only available to take as part of our Intensive 2 -Day Soap Making Boot Camp, but now you have the option to take it as a stand alone class (assuming you've already taken our CP 101 (basics & more class) or have previous experience making soap on your own.

Cold Process Part II (or CP 201) will cover more intermediate information about CP soap - namely swirling and layering your soap to rival any commercial soaps you see at the store. We will also discuss using alternate liquids like herbal teas and aloe, more great recipe ideas and scent combinations, and how to use the Majestic Mountain Sage Calculator to get you more comfortable with making your own recipes.

Due to the nature of making soap from scratch, this class is mainly demonstration style. As with all our classes, you'll leave with thorough handouts, enough information to take your CP soap to the next level, and one full-size bar of soap (your choice of the soap I have curing). This class uses only vegan / vegetarian ingredients.

NOTE:
This is an age 18+ class since making soap from scratch involves working with lye (aka sodium hydroxide). Also, cold process soap needs about a month to cure before using (hot process can be used within a few days and melt & pour soap can be used within a few hours). To take part in stirring the soap, please wear or bring a long-sleeved shirt. You'll also need rubber gloves and safety goggles. There will be several pairs of goggles and gloves to share, but if you prefer your own please bring them to class.
